Aeromodelling Sportsman of the 20th Century

in the Republic of Suriname

On September 28, 2001 His Excellency the Secretary of Education Mr. W.R. Sandriman presented the Sportsman of the 20th  Century Award for aeromodelling to John Bainathsah, president of Aero Modelers Suriname.

1974 Started with modelaviation at age 10

1976 3rd. place in first international competition in French Guyana.

1977 1st. place in international competition in Suriname (B Class)

1978 1st. place in Regional Aeromodelling Competition in Suriname

1981 Participated in the South American Championships

1995 Appointed as a member of the Board of the National Association for Aeromodelling (AMS)

1996 1st. place in Regional Aeromodelling Competition in Curacao, N.A.

1997 Elected as President of the National Association for Aeromodelling (AMS)

         1st. place in Regional Aeromodelling Competition in Curacao, N.A.

1998 1st. place in Regional Aeromodelling Competition in Trinidad & Tobago, W.I.

1999 Participated in the FAI World Championships in Pensacola, USA

2000 Participated in the Florida State Competition in Tangerine, USA

2001 1st. place in Regional Aeromodelling Competition in Curacao, N.A.

         3rd.place in the Florida State Competition in Ocala, USA

         5th. place in the South-Carolina State Competition in Camden, USA

         2nd. place in the Florida State Competition in Jacksonville, USA

         Received an official AMA Judging License (May 2001)
